Speaker bio: Prof. Song Ziming is a distinguished professor at the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China. He graduated from Renmin University of China in 1986 and was one of the first doctoral degree recipients at the university. He is dedicated to the study of Chinese philosophy, with a focus on modern and contemporary Chinese philosophy, traditional culture, and modernization. Professor Song is one of the pioneers in the study of modern Neo-Confucianism in Mainland China, having first proposed the concept of “modern Neo-Confucianism” and worked to promote the contemporary transformation of Confucian values.
He has authored over 30 books, including Studies on Modern Neo-Confucianism, Passing on the Torch: Song Ziming’s Lectures on Ancient Chinese Philosophy, General Theory of Traditional Chinese Philosophy, General Theory of Modern Chinese Philosophy, Critical Biography of Xiong Shili, A Study of He Lin's Neo-Confucian Thought, and Critical Biography of Feng Youlan’s Academic Thought, and has published more than 280 academic papers.
