The Fourth Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum

The Fourth Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum began on November 26th, hosted by Renmin University of China (RUC). Dr. Cheng Tianquan, Chairman of the RUC University Council, conducted the opening meetings, and ceremonial banquet, by graciously welcoming the various South Korean University presidents and professors to RUC. Chairman Cheng expressed his desire to foster a harmonious and peaceful relationship with his counterparts, where scientific research, joint degree programs and geographic proximity underpin cooperative endeavors.

The Presidents Forum was held in Renmin University of China’s Mingde building on November 27th, and consisted of three sessions aimed at bolstering ties between Chinese and South Korean Universities. Dr. Chen Yulu, President of RUC, gave an impassioned speech citing Confucian Ethics and moral principles as combinatorial facets that unite China and South Korea.

The Presidents Forum was comprised of 17 Chinese and 12 Korean universities, and even included representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

 A common theme linking the speeches by presidents of both Chinese and South Korean universities was mutual understanding and cooperation, spanning the seas and interrelating cultural and educational ideals will provide opportunities for intellectual prosperity. Renmin University of China was proud to host the Fourth Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum, and may future forums serve to further intellectual introspection.
