2025.03.28

At the Beijing Finals of the 2nd National College Student Career Planning Competition, three outstanding students from Renmin University of China (RUC) emerged victorious from a pool of 168,000 contestants, securing the prestigious gold medal with their clear career goals, solid practical experience, and vibrant youthful spirit.

Despite coming from different academic backgrounds and pursuing diverse career paths, they all showcased RUC students’ deep sense of social responsibility and professional excellence through this competition. Their performances underscored the mission and commitment of today’s youth to advancing with the times.

To Explore Emotions in the Age of Big Data

"Choosing brand marketing as my career path was not a random decision but rather a result of deep self-awareness and extensive internship experience throughout college life."

Understanding consumer behavior and staying ahead of trends have enabled Bao Xinyi, an undergraduate from the School of International Studies (Class of 2021), to secure multiple coveted job offers. Transitioning from international politics to brand marketing might seem unexpected, but it is the result of years of practical exploration. Starting from her freshman year, she interned at government agencies, consulting firms, top internet companies, and e-commerce platforms, continuously expanding her skill sets in market analysis, event planning, and project management.

In today’s fragmented information landscape, grabbing users’ attention and effectively promoting products through new media is a challenge. Through rigorous market research, precise audience profiling, and relentless refinement of marketing strategies, Bao successfully led her team to win the first place among 96 top university teams in a branding competition. During her internship, one of her proposed marketing strategies transformed an ordinary product into a best-seller.

Despite securing qualification of exemption from the graduate school normal exam based on her academic excellence, Bao Xinyi chose to get a job after graduation, believing the industry offers a broader stage for her ambitions. During the 2024 job-hunting season, she received offers from internet giants, FMCG giants, and tech companies. Looking ahead, she aspires to become an industry leader who integrates data-driven insights with human-centered branding, stating, "Marketing is the fusion of science and art-I want to be the one who translates emotions into impactful connections."

To Tell China’s Economic Story in Passionate Writing

"I will be on the frontlines, telling the stories that matter, to promote China's high-quality economic development."

For Song Jiahang, a master’s student from the School of Applied Economics (Class of 2023), journalism is both a mission and a calling. A participant in RUC’s prestigious "LEAD Program", she pursued her childhood dream of becoming an economic journalist by interning at People’s Daily, under the mentorship of senior journalist Yan Bing. Over the course of seven months, she engaged in 20 published reports as lead writer, covering stories from the Spring Festival travel season to international expos and interviews at the Great Wall with foreign visitors.

Keenly aware of industry trends, Song Jiahang identified the growing role of AI interviewers in recruitment processes and authored the article "Have You Encountered an AI Interviewer in This Year’s Job Market?". The piece topped the People’s Daily Overseas Edition’s engagement ranking and ranked among the top ten most impactful articles of the period, even earning a full reprint by Xuexi Daguo, a widely followed national media outlet.

With nearly six years of economics studies and experience at government agencies and major state-owned enterprises, Song Jiahang blends academic expertise with real-world insights. Inspired by experienced journalists who praised her sharp news instincts and in-depth writing, she is more determined than ever to contribute to the field of economic journalism, bringing China’s economic development stories to global audience.

Transforming Ideological and Political Education into a Beacon of Faith

"From the revolutionary cradle of the Dabie Mountains to RUC’s School of Marxism, red heritage flows in my veins. I aspire to teach ideological and political courses with academic depth which inspire belief".

Growing up in the Dabie Mountain Revolutionary Base, Nie Jing, an undergraduate from the School of Marxism (Class of 2022), was deeply influenced by China’s revolutionary history. Her passion for Marxist theory solidified at RUC, where she committed herself to becoming a university-level ideological and political instructor.

From being the youngest lecturer in the Yanhe Youth Lecturer Group, to setting up the Yanhe Recitation Team, co-producing "We Walk from Yan’an", and leading major research projects - Nie Jing has accumulated extensive experience that strengthened her ability to deliver thought-provoking, engaging political education.

Believing that outstanding political educators must conduct real-world research, Nie Jing traveled across China, conducting field studies in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and beyond, engaging with schools, communities, and military bases, reaching over 100,000 audience members. In the summer of 2024, she secured an internship at the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) through the "Sailing Program" of the Communist Youth League. Her research was incorporated into a policy advisory report adopted by the provincial government.

Starting as a student lecturer at RUC, Nie Jing has steadily advanced toward her dream. She firmly believes that ideological and political education is a course that enlightens minds and nurtures souls, and she eagerly anticipates the day she can stand at the lectern, guiding students toward truth with wisdom and passion.

From RUC’s Campus Competition to the Beijing Finals: A Journey of Growth and Determination

Throughout the competition, these three students deepened their understanding of their career aspirations and reaffirmed their professional paths. The three gold medals they earned are not only a recognition of their personal efforts but also a testament to RUC’s commitment to high-quality talent development and career guidance.

RUC has built a three-dimensional career service system, integrating a smart career platform, direct school-enterprise connections, and comprehensive support programs. By providing full-cycle, multi-dimensional career guidance, RUC empowers students to transform from "excellent students" into "exceptional contributors".

With dreams in their hearts, light in their eyes, and firm steps toward the future, we look forward to seeing more RUC students shine in their careers and achieve their aspirations!
