“Cross-Strait Youth Cultural Continuity” Parallel Forum Held Successfully at Second Wuyi Forum

On March 22, Parallel forum theming “Cross-Strait Youth Cultural Continuity” of the Second Wuyi Forum was successfully held in Wuyishan, Nanping city, Fujian province, hosted by Renmin University of China and the Nanping government. Scholars, experts, and nearly 200 youth representatives from Mainland and Taiwan Province engaged in in-depth discussions. The forum explored the mission and responsibility of young people in promoting cross-Strait integrated development, addressing the contemporary imperative of preserving and advancing China’s cultural legacy.


The forum was attended by distinguished guests including Pi Jun, First-Level Inspector of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League; Wang Yi, Vice President and Deputy Party Secretary of Renmin University of China; and Chen Zhongmin, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Standing Committee of the Nanping Municipal People's Congress. Also present were department heads, faculty representatives, student delegates and young inheritors of Nanping's intangible cultural heritage.

Wang Yi emphasized that Renmin University of China remains steadfast in cultivating a sense of mission and responsibility among the younger generation for cultural heritage preservation, thereby igniting fresh momentum for cross - Strait youth development. She expressed her hope that young participants would collaborate to safeguard the continuity of Chinese cultural heritage, co-author new chapters in cultural exchange, and expand avenues for mutual engagement.


Professor Yuan Jixi from the School of Chinese Classics at Renmin University of China delivered a keynote speech, expounding on the profound origins of Chinese culture and its pivotal role as a bond in cross-strait exchanges. He emphasized that Chinese culture represents our shared cultural roots and spiritual homeland.


During the forum, a dedicated Hanfu Collection exhibition was presented, featuring three student - designed Song - style Hanfu costumes. These carefully crafted garments skillfully combined the scenic beauty of Wuyi Mountain, Zhu Zi Neo-Confucianism and tea culture with Renmin University of China's institutional attributes, including its historical heritage, educational principles, and cultivation philosophy. This innovative project exemplifies a contemporary approach to creatively adapting and developing China's traditional cultural heritage.


Moreover, the forum marked the official launch of the “Cross-Strait Youth Cultural Continuity” social practice initiative. This pioneering program will significantly enrich the collaboration between RUC and Nanping City, empowering young scholars to activate their intellectual potential through cross-cultural exchanges in practical settings.


The successful convening of this forum has laid a solid foundation for cross - strait youth to further strengthen cultural consensus and expand exchanges and cooperation.
