About the Speaker:

Dr. Sun Xiaowen is a Lecturer and Young Elite Scholar at the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China (RUC), where she also serves as a researcher at the Institute for Buddhist and Religious Studies, the Euro-Asia Research Institute, and Assistant Director of the Belt and Road Research Center. A graduate of Peking University’s Department of Arabic Language and Culture, Dr. Sun completed her postdoctoral fellowship at RUC’s School of Philosophy. Her international academic experience includes research visits to the University of Damascus, Cairo University, the University of Haifa, and Sciences Po Paris. Fluent in Arabic and English with reading proficiency in French, Dr. Sun currently leads the National Social Science Fund Youth Project “A Transnational Comparative Study of Salafist Movements in the Middle East.”
