Renmin University of China and Jin’An Trands Establish Joint Laboratory

On April 14th, the inauguration ceremony of the Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Monitoring and Visual Analysis of Illegal Financial Activities, co-founded by Renmin University of China (RUC) and Beijing Jin’an Trands Technology Co. was held.

 


Attendees included RUC President Lin Shangli; Ji Peiwen, former Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Yuan Xudong, former Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Finland; Su Wen, General Manager of Jin’an Trands; investor Pan Peng; and experts from Peking University, the National Supercomputing Center, Shandong University, and other institutions. The event was chaired by Du Xiaoyong, Director of the Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering under the Ministry of Education.  

 

Lin Shangli emphasized that smart governance provides robust momentum for modernizing China’s governance system and capabilities. The joint laboratory will leverage RUC’s strengths in academic disciplines, talent, and technology, combined with Jin’an Trands’ expertise in financial security big data, to advance collaboration in product development, talent cultivation, and more. Guided by the principles of mutual benefit, complementary advantages, and shared growth, the lab aims to bridge industry-academia research and accelerate the practical application of achievements in data and AI.

 

Pan Peng noted that Jin’an Trands has achieved breakthroughs in core technologies such as graph databases, blockchain traceability, and big data model inference. The collaboration with RUC marks a critical step in deepening industry-academia integration. The lab will focus on cutting-edge challenges like trustworthy reasoning in large-scale AI models, building an innovation cycle that connects fundamental research, technological development, and industrial applications. He highlighted the partnership’s potential to deliver robust technical support and innovative momentum for safeguarding national financial security.  

 

Ji Peiwen remarked that platforms like the joint laboratory effectively align universities’ frontier research and high-level talent development with national technological priorities. He urged RUC and Jin’an Trands to maximize their respective strengths in academia and innovation, establish a demand-driven and complementary cooperation mechanism, and pioneer new models for cultivating interdisciplinary talent through real-world applications.  

 

Yuan Xudong provided a systematic analysis of European best practices in government-industry-academia collaboration, drawing on examples from Germany and Finland. 


Laboratory Director Wang Yunhai presented the team’s collaborative achievements with economic crime investigation units across China.
