2025.04.22

On April 19, 2025, the “2025 Forum on Duplicated Periodical Index Release and Preprint Platform Development” was convened at Renmin University of China (RUC), under the theme “Development of Academic Journals and Construction of Preprint Platforms.”

President Lin Shangli emphasized that RUC has consistently upheld the directives of our national leaders with high commitment and concrete actions. RUC has established “Academic World,” a digital innovation platform for China's independent knowledge system in philosophy and social sciences, and launched the nation’s first Master Literature Platform and first Preprint Platform specifically dedicated to philosophy and social sciences.

Liu Xiwen pointed out that open science has brought significant changes to the modes of academic exchange. Preprint platforms serve as crucial components of the academic communication system and play an irreplaceable role in facilitating rapid dissemination and efficient exchange of scientific research achievements.

Zhao Chuandong stated that RUC has been dedicated to strengthening the development of academic resource databases, supporting “Academic World” in launching China’s first Preprint Platform for Philosophy and Social Sciences, which has been jointly established and operated in collaboration with over 500 journals nationwide.

The Documentation and Information Center of Renmin University of China (RDC) and the National Science Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSL) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

The signing ceremony for collaborative construction agreements of three preprint sub-platforms——“Art & Design,” “World Sinology,” and “Chinese Communist Party History & Party Building Studies” was successfully held, marking the official launch of these specialized academic platforms.

The signing ceremony for collaborative construction agreements of ChinaXiv’s disciplinary preprint platforms——“Psychology Open Science Platform 2.0,” “Astronomy Preprint Platform 2.0,” and “Phonology & Musical Rhythm Preprint Platform 2.0” was successfully held.

At the conference, Yang Hongyan, Deputy Director of the Documentation and Information Center of RDC, released two significant academic evaluation outcomes under the “RUC Reprint” series: The Research Report on Duplicated Periodical Materials Index (2024) and Important Source Institutions of Duplicated Periodical Materials (2024 Edition).

Gao Zilong, Editor-in-Chief of the Documentation and Information Center of RUC (RDC), released the “New Platforms, New Ecosystems, New Evaluations: 2024 Report on Preprint Platform Development Achievements,” which presents the latest progress in coordinated innovation between preprint platform development and academic evaluation in China.

On the afternoon of April 19, six parallel sub-forums were held simultaneously on the following themes: “Preprint Platforms and the New Ecosystem of Open Academic Exchange,” “The Theory and Practice of Preprint Achievement Evaluation,” “Digital Publishing Platforms and the Construction of Academic Communities in Humanities,” “Digital Publishing Platform Development and the Advancement of Economics & Management Disciplines,” “Digital Publishing Platforms and the Building of Law & Political Science Academic Communities,” and “Digital Publishing Platforms and the Establishment of Sociology & Ethnology Academic Communities,” where scholars and experts conducted in-depth discussions on preprint platform development, digital publishing, discipline construction, and academic community building.
