The volleyball league for the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year at Renmin University of China (RUC) kicked off on March 24. A total of 462 athletes from 26 schools and departments formed 41 representative teams (21 men's teams and 20 women's teams), participating in four categories: Men's Group A, Women's Group A, Men's Group B, and Women's Group B.

After 23 competition days and 118 matches, the finals of this season's volleyball league were held from May 6 to 7. Lin Shangli, President of RUC, attended the opening ceremony of the Men's Group A final and served the first ball. The heads of relevant schools such as the School of Journalism, the School of Sociology, and the School of Population and Health watched the game. Deng Xuezhen, a national-level volleyball referee, was invited to officiate.

Lin Shangli stated that sports are an important part of the comprehensive development of students in five aspects, and an important way to cultivate students' spirit of hard work. The university attaches great importance to sports work, and adheres to integrating the cultivation of morality and the nurturing of people throughout the whole process and all aspects of students' physical education, giving full play to its guiding and educational functions, helping students enjoy the fun, enhance their physical fitness, improve their personalities, and temper their wills during physical exercise.

In the finals of each category, the participating teams competed fiercely. Strength and speed intertwined, and the coordination between offense and defense was excellent, demonstrating the power of teamwork and youthful vitality. In the end, the joint team of the School of Sociology and the School of Population and Health won the championship of Men's Group A, the joint team of the School of Ecology and Environment and the School of Chemistry and Life Resources won the championship of Women's Group A, the joint team of the School of Education and the Department of Psychology won the championship of Men's Group B, and the joint team of the School of Sociology and the School of Population and Health won the championship of Women's Group B.

The heads of relevant schools and the Department of Physical Education respectively presented awards to the winning teams of each category and to individuals who won the "Sports Spirit Award of Renmin University" and "Outstanding Referee Award".

RUC has a strong atmosphere for volleyball and a large base of student enthusiasts. Volleyball is one of the sports with the highest participation and influence on campus. The volleyball league for the 2024-2025 academic year is divided into two competition cycles: the autumn semester and the spring semester. In the autumn semester's events, each participating team played in a group round-robin. The top two teams in each group advanced to the Group A competition, and the remaining teams entered the Group B competition. In the spring semester's events, both Group A and Group B held group matches and knockout matches, and finally determined the winning teams in each category.
