Speaker's CV:
Jesús Seade has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People's Republic of China since 2021. From 2018 to 2020, he was appointed as Under-Secretary for North- America with Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2018, he represented the president-elect of Mexico in the negotiations of the new USMCA trade agreement between Mexico, the * and Canada (successor to NAFTA) which was successfully concluded. From 1989 to 1993, he served as the Ambassador of Mexico to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, where he led Mexico's participation in negotiations that created the World Trade Organization (WTO), and then acted as founding Deputy Director-General of the WTO. In November 2020, Ambassador Seade received from President Lopez-Obrador the Miguel Hidalgo Order in the Degree of Band, highest honour the Mexican Government can bestow on a Mexican national. He also used to take the positions of Vice President of two Hong Kong universities from 2007 to 2017.
