Vice President Feng Shizheng Meets Delegation from Iran's Imam Hussein University

On May 20, Feng Shizheng, Vice President of Renmin University of China (RUC), met with a delegation led by Mohammad Reza Hassani Ahangar, President of Iran's Imam Hussein University (IHU).


Vice President Feng highlighted RUC's disciplinary strengths, emphasizing its "distinctive humanities and social sciences" and "excellent fundamental disciplines", with fields such as economics, law, and artificial intelligence ranking among the top in China. He noted the university’s multi-campus integrated education model and regional collaboration advantages. Feng expressed hope to leverage both institutions’ academic strengths to advance interdisciplinary research, foster youth exchange programs, and expand practical cooperation with universities and organizations across Iran and the broader Middle East. He stressed the shared goal of cultivating high-level international talent to bolster China-Iran exchanges and contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.


President Mohammad Reza Hassani Ahangar introduced IHU’s profile and key disciplines, underscoring its mission to train managerial and professional elites for Iran. He mentioned IHU’s second-place ranking in Iran’s national university evaluations and expressed eagerness to deepen collaboration with RUC in talent development, faculty-student exchanges, and academic cooperation.


Following the meeting, the delegation held discussions with RUC’s School of Information and visited the National Governance Big Data and AI Innovation Platform.


The delegation included Mohammad Reza Rahimi (Advisor to the IHU President), Rouhollah Tavallaei (IHU Vice President for International Cooperation), Hosein Saberi (Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering), Habib Atanezhad (Project Coordinator of IHU’s International Cooperation Office), and Esmaeil Mehryar (Science and Technology Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in China). Representatives from RUC’s International Office of Cooperation and Exchanges, Office of the Leading Group for International Student Affairs, School of History, School of Business, and School of Information attended the meeting.
