KIPO Commissioner Visit RUC and Deliver A Speech

On Dec. 9, 2013, RUC Vice President Prof. Yi Zhihong met with Commissioner Kim Young-min, Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). Senior Deputy Director Seo Eul-Soo and Deputy Director Lee Jong-Ki from KIPO International Cooperation Division, and Counselor Seo Dong-Wuk from the South Korean Embassy to China were also in attendance.
VP Prof. Yi extended a warm welcome to the delegation. With the international collaboration on intellectual property as an important part of the University’s international strategy, she expected exchanges between the two sides could be strengthened, and cooperation expanded from law study into other top-ranking disciplines of RUC such as economics, applied economics, politics, sociology, journalism and communication, statistics, business administration, as well as public administration.
Mr. Kim Young-min expressed his pleasure and honor to visit RUC, which has been the academic pioneer in intellectual property. KIPO signed strategic cooperation agreement with RUC in 2011, which set an example for government-university collaboration. Mr. Kim also confirmed KIPO’s further support for academic research and collaboration.
Prof. Liu Chuntian, Dean of Intellectual Property Academy, and Ms. Cheng Xin, Deputy Director of the International Office attended the meeting.
After the meeting, Commissioner Kim and his delegation visited Renmin Law School for a discussion with Prof. Liu Chuntian, Prof. Guo He (Deputy Dean of Intellectual Property Academy), Prof. Shi Yan’an (Deputy Dean of the Law School), A/Prof. Luo Li and A/Prof. Zhang Guangliang. Mr. Kim then delivered a speech titled
Creative Economy and Intellectual Property in South Korea, which was well-received by Law School students.
