RUC Human Right Center Enlisted as“National Base for Human Right Education and Training”

RENMIN UNIVERSITY, 15 May 2014 (Via RUC English News): Human Right Education and TrainingCenter, Renmin Universtity of China (RUC)has been enlisted recentlyas National Base for Human Right Education and Training according to an official notice issued jointly by the Ministry of Education and the State Council Information Office.
RUC’s application for the National Base was initiated by RUC Law School with the active participation of related disciplines. After hearing the defense made by Prof. Han Dayuan, director of the Law School, to demonstrate the time-honored history of RUC and the Law School in particular in human rights education and training, its distinctive academic specialties and theeffectscarried out in human rights teaching and research as well as in international communication and cooperation, the Panel members agreeed that theHuman Right Center, RUC had its own advantages in law, professional training, as well as research teams and approved the application.
With its clear-cut characteristics in the study, consulting, legal aids, education and training of human rights, RUChas been long devoting to probing important theretical and practical issues in the field of contemparary human rights, to interpreting and publicizing human rights views with Chinese characteristics and to conducting inter-disciplinary and comprehensive studies among humanities, scocial science and law in the relevant fields.
The Human Right Center of RUC, together with that of Fudan University, WuHan University,, Shandong University and Southwest Politics and Law University, is among the second batch of universities which are enlisted as the Base. Universities of the first batch are Nankai University,
China University of Political Science and Law and Guangzhou University.
