Various Activities Enhance RUC-Korea University Collaboration

Jointly organized by RUC and Korea University, the International Finance Seminar, the graduation ceremony of the 2014 Global Leadership Program and the unveiling ceremony of the KU Global Center, Beijing were held in RUC on August 22, Friday.
Those who attended these activities are Prof. Chen Yulu, RUC President, Prof. Yi Zhihong, RUC Vice President, Prof. Kim Byoung-chul, President of Korea University, as well as some other guests and alumni from Korea University.
RUC President Prof. Chen Yulu delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony of the 2014 Global Leadership Program, saying that through high-level visits, faculty and student exchanges and short-term training programs, the faculties and students of the two universities have been witnessing the intimate cooperation and profound friendship for many years.
In his speech, Korea University President Kim Byoung-chul expressed that China and Korea maintain frequent exchanges in many aspects such as economy, trade and higher education since the establishment of diplomatic relation between the two countries.
On behalf of all the participants in the program, three of them expressed that they have not only learned Chinese, but also acquired more comprehensive and deeper understanding about China. They said that all of them have experienced happy and fulfilled time in RUC, and they will contribute to promote closer exchange and cooperation between China and Korea in the future.
After that, the unveiling ceremony of the KU Global Center, Beijing was held in RUC International Cultural Exchange Center. RUC President Chen Yulu and Korea University Presidnet Kim Byoung-chul jointly unveiled the nameplate of the center. The renovated Beijing Center will provide a more comfortable environment for learning, work and living. Meanwhile, it will definitely create more convenient conditions for the exchange between the two universities.
Korea University is the most well-known and largest in scale in all Korean private universities. RUC and Korea University maintain close mutual visits and academic exchanges for many years. The two universities signed the university-level cooperative agreement in 1997. In 2009, the two universities jointly established the Sino-Korea Research Institute of Corporation Operation and International Cultural Exchange Center. The two universities also signed the student exchange agreement in the same year.
Starting in 2013, the Global Leadership Program, which is jointly organized by the two universities, is designed for Korea University students. With 8-week-long Chinese language courses and Chinese culture experience, this program aims at fostering future “China experts” who can speak Chinese language, understand China and promote the exchange between China and Korea. The outlay of the program is totally provided by donations.
