On the morning of November 20^th, Renmin University of China called a general meeting of faculty and staff at RUC's Yifu Hall to announce the appointment of LIU Wei as the university’s new president. During the meeting, PAN Ligang, Deputy Head of the Organization Department of the CPC, announced the CPC Central Committee and State Council’s decision to appoint LIU Wei and offered his remarks. Chinese Education Minister, YUAN Guiren, and Education Secretary of the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, GOU Zhongwen, each addressed the meeting. Presiding over the meeting was RUC Chairwoman of the University Council, JIN Nuo. PAN Ligang read the decision of the Central Committee and State Council to appoint LIU Wei President of Renmin University following Professor Chen Yulu’s move to the People's Bank of China in November 2015. PAN hopes that under Professor LIU’s leadership, RUC will accelerate its development toward global excellence in higher education and add to its outstanding achievements in the humanities and social sciences.
