From May 18^th to 25^th, the 19^th “FLTRP Cup” National English Debating Competition was held at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Coaching Renmin University’s debate team was Professor WANG Jianhua, whose students offered a remarkable performance, standing out among the more than one hundred teams competing. LIU Fangru of Remin University’s School of Foreign Languages and LI Xinyu of the School of Sociology and Population Studies formed RUC’s winning debate team, bringing home the “FLTRP Cup” for the first time. LIU Fangru also earned the award for single best debater. The “FLTRP Cup” National English Debating Competition was established in 1997, and has since gained wide popularity and prestige across China, with a number of regional events held in addition to the nationwide competition.
