On May 31st, on the eve of International Children's Day, RUC President LIU Wei led a group of university representatives to visit children and their teachers at the Kindergarten Affiliated to RUC, expressing wishes for the health and happiness of the children and their families. He also spoke with the teachers, encouraging them in their valuable work of investing in the next generation.
Following their tour of the grounds, the visiting delegation held a symposium with the kindergarten’s leadership on preschool education, recreational activities and education reform. President LIU pointed out that the RUC Kindergarten plays an important role in the education system overall. He also commended the staff for their joint efforts in building this model kindergarten in Beijing; the learning environment they have endeavored to create lays a solid foundation for the development of a child's character.
President LIU pledged RUC’s continued support of the kindergarten, whether in providing educational resources, supplying structural support, recruiting teaching faculty or aiding in implementing education reform. The university’s support, LIU explained, would help the kindergarten provide more children with a better pre-school education, further contributing to the development of pre-school education in Beijing and across the country.
Executive Principal ZHENG delivered a detailed introduction of the kindergarten’s history, development status, teaching staff, logistical support system and challenges encountered in the process of reform.
Tracing its origins back to the Kindergarten Affiliated to North China Union University established in 1947, the Kindergarten Affiliated to RUC joined the ranks of Beijing’s top-ranking kindergartens in 2000. It was named one of Haidian District’s “Model Kindergartens” in 2002 and Model Kindergarten in Beijing in 2015.
