2016.06.11
On June 5
th, Renmin University’s Institute for Health Care Reform organized the sixth Summit on National Health Care Reform and Development. The theme of this year’s forum was “Development and Reform of Public Hospitals & Management of Health Service Technology.”
Those in attendance included RUC Executive Vice Chairman, ZHANG Jianming, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Healthcare Reform of China’s Health and Family Planning Commission, FU Wei, Deputy Director-General of the Medical Administration Bureau, GUO Yanhong, Chair of Britain’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), David Haslam, and Kalipso Chalkidou of NICE International. Dean of the School of Public Management, YANG Kaifeng, presided over the opening ceremony and discussion forum.
In his opening remarks, RUC Vice Chairman ZHANG noted that Renmin University’s Institute for Health Care Reform, established in 2007, was the country’s earliest academic research institute to specialize in the study of national health care reform; it was also the first research institute in China to cooperate with Britain’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), a partnership that has led to a number of joint research projects over the past nine years. Issues related to raising and ensuring the quality of national health care services ought to be discussed in a round of experts from different sectors, including policy makers, policy researchers, and medical practitioners, who can offer relevant advice and experiences. This forum, ZHANG stressed, offered a valuable opportunity to do just that.
