University of East London Soccer Team at RUC for Friendly Match

On June 8
th the University of East London and Renmin University of China met at RUC’s soccer field for a friendly tournament. Spectators in attendance included Vice Chairman of the University Council and director of physical education at RUC, WU Fulai, along with the Director of Beijing Sport University’s Foreign Affairs Department, JIN Xiaoping, and a large crowd of RUC soccer fans, cheering their team on to victory.
Before the matches, RUC’s cheerleaders offered a spirited performance both to welcome their foreign visitors and set the stage for a suspenseful tournament. The teams went on to exchange gifts, after which Vice Chairman WU opened the game.
The women’s teams played first, fighting a close match throughout the first half with both sides taking their turns in controlling the ball. Finally, the RUC players arranged themselves to score two beautiful goals, winning the game 2-0.
The men’s teams offered an exciting match: after East London scored two goals at the beginning of the game, keeping RUC’s players on its toes with a succession of well-played long passes, RUC’s team finally caught up, scoring three goals in a row to win a hard earned victory over their English visitors.
The University of East London’s soccer team has been visiting Beijing Sport University this June.
