Renmin University of China is elected as Chair of the Council of the Ministry of Education's Comprehensive University Sports Association

th to the 14
th of October, the annual meeting of the Comprehensive University Sports Association (CUSA) was convened at Donghua University. Present at the meeting was current Deputy Chairman of Renmin University Council, Chairman of the Discipline Inspection Committee and Director of the Sports Department WU Fulai. In the course of the meeting, Deputy Chairman WU was elected as Chairman for the CUSA, which is a body under the aegis of the Ministry of Education.
Representatives of every member institution were present at the meeting, during which they presented a talk on the situation of physical education at their respective institutions. Of particular focus during the talks were current difficulties faced in the course of physical education. Following, an election was held as stipulated by the meeting regulations. After much deliberation on part of the Council, and upon passing a vote from those attending the meeting, it was decided to create the position of Council Chair of the Comprehensive University Sports Association under the Ministry of Education, electing Deputy Chairman WU Fulai as Council Chairman.
In light of this honour, Deputy Chaiman WU Fulai expressed his gratitude to the Council for their confidence in Renmin University, and articulated the great significance that this would have for improving the health and wellbeing of university students. He also expressed particular gratitude for the honour and responsibility of being elected to the Council. In response, some of the academics in attendance conveyed their belief that, under the direction of the Council, they will dedicate themselves to improving the Council and will devote their every strength towards developing physical education in tertiary institutions.
The Ministry of Education’s CUSA was established on the 4
th of May 1990; some members of the association include Peking University, Renmin University, Fudan University, Jilin University, Nankai University, Wuhuan University, Xiamen University, Sun-Yatsen University – in total the Association is comprised of 22 tertiary institutions. From humble beginnings, 26 years of development have seen the Association consolidate the strength of its membership through holding such activities as academic fora, exchanging ideas and experiences between members, shared research sessions and organised sporting competitions. All of these activities have been held in accordance with Renmin University’s policies and guiding principles regarding physical education, making an outstanding contribution to, and serving as a shining example of, the role of leadership in the process of developing physical education in tertiary institutions.
