President LIU Wei Meets with Chancellor Gene Block of the University of California

th of November, RUC President LIU Wei met with the Chancellor of University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), to discuss opportunities for the two institutions to further collaborative partnerships.
President LIU welcomed Chancellor Block on his visit to RUC, giving him a run-down on RUC’s history, academic accomplishments, and current collaborative agreements with other high-level US universities. President LIU noted that RUC is an accomplished university which excels in research in the humanities, with some of its major strengths being economics, politics, law, journalism, sociology and statistics, being ranked among the best in China. In its efforts to improve its global ranking, RUC has collaborative partnerships with 29 US universities, including Yale University, University of Chicago, Columbia University, and University of California Berkley. Henceforth, RUC is keen to continue strengthening its relationship with UCLA, and sedulously develop collaboration.
Following, Chancellor Block noted that UCLA is also a leading university in the field of humanities, meaning that it is a suitable match for a partnership with RUC with lots of potential for collaboration. He concluded by emphatically expressing UCLA's hope to expand its exchanges and collaboration with RUC.
Prior to the meeting, Chancellor Block went on a tour of RUC, visiting the history museum, during which he met with Vice Chancellor YI Zhihong to further discuss opportunities for collaboration.
Also present at the meeting were Director of the International Office ZHANG Xiaojing, and Executive Director of the Gaoli Research Department LU Bin.
