RUC Student Delegation Wins Arts and Humanities Knowledge Championship

On the evening of the 26
th of November, the eighth session of the Beijing City University Arts and Humanities Knowledge Competition finals was held at Beijing Language and Culture University. The five-member delegation from RUC won the championship through their thorough knowledge of the arts and outstanding performance ability.
From the 22
nd to the 23
rd, RUC held both the eighth session of the Arts and Humanities Knowledge Competition and the second session of the ‘Wise Historian’ competition, the top ten finalists from these competitions were placed into two groups of five members to compete in the Beijing City University Arts and Humanities Knowledge Competition. On the 29
th of November, the competition results were announced with RUC’s team one coming in first and team two coming in seventh. The top twelve competitors in this competition go on to the final competition, however, as only one team from each university is allowed to compete, RUC’s second team are unable to compete.
The competition was held on the 26
th, at Beijing Language and Culture University. The contest featured competitors from Beijing Language and Culture University, Central Minzu University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Tsinghua University.

The competition required students to test their skills at a range of cultural feats such as: creating and transcribing poetry and song; historical knowledge; knowledge of the Confucian classics; reciting and critiquing poetry; and knowledge of Chinese opera.

Once the competition was wrapped up, the delegation from RUC received a whopping 974.38 points to take out the championship.

RUC have consistently done well in this competition, coming in third place in 2014, second place in 2015, and finally taken out the championship in 2016. The students have worked very hard, and their hard work and vast knowledge of the humanities gave them the winning edge.
In two weeks the RUC delegation will represent Beijing city in the Huabei Five-Province finals at Beijing Jiaotong University.
