Vice President YI Zhihong Attends Inaugural Trilateral Rector’s Forum

On the 13th of December, with the sponsorship of the Korean Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education, the inaugural Trilateral (China – Japan – Korea) Rector’s Forum titled “Shaping The Future of Academic Mobility in Korea, Japan, and China, & CAMPUS Asia Launching Ceremony” was held in Seoul (CAMPUS stands for Collective Action for Mobility Program of University Students). RUC Vice President YI attended the forum. 01%e5%89%af%e6%9c%ac During the opening ceremony, the Chair of the Korean Council for University Education and appointed delegates of the Korean Minister of Education gave welcome addresses. Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat Secretary-General Ambassador YANG Houlan also gave an address. In the launch ceremony for the second five-year term of the “CAMPUS Asia” project, Vice President YI accepted a “CAMPUS Asia” project certificate on behalf of RUC. 002 That afternoon, Vice President YI hosted the first sub forum on the theme of “Mobility Projects.” During this, she pointed out that the “CAMPUS Asia” project as an important role in spurring the deepening and widening of collaboration between China, Japan, and Korea. The culture of our three nations flows from the same source; all place great importance on education, all have high quality education safeguards. In conclusion, she expressed hope that the “CAMPUS Asia” project, under the initiative of the governments of our three nations, will be able to realise long lasting development, and at the same time become widely popular, enjoying the participation of our outstanding universities, educators, and students. The “CAMPUS Asia” project is a trilaterally sponsored education exchange program formulated within the spirit of the “2020 Prospects for Trilateral Cooperation” trilateral leader’s meeting. Since 2012 ten pilot “CAMPUS” projects have been launched, having already made a notable contribution to academic collaboration and student exchange between outstanding students from China, Japan, and Korea. A joint declaration between Renmin University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul National University, and Nagoya University called “Talent Development Programs to Develop Consensus on Governmental Legal Concepts within East Asian Regions for the Promotion of East Asian Community Forming and Developing Legal Institutions” was approved in 2011, and at the end of 2015 it was considered highly successful by all parties. In 2016, this project has been approved to receive the support of the three governments for another five years.
