RUC Receives “Beijing Municipal Award for Outstanding Administration Team: International Students in Higher Education”

On the 16th of December, at the 30th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Beijing Municipal Higher Education Association International Student Work Research Association, RUC received the “2016 Beijing Municipal Award for Outstanding Administration Team: International Students in Higher Education.”
This award is an affirmation of RUC’s aptitude to the task of administration of international students, it is important recognition of the international student management team’s work achievements, aptitude and innovation. In 2016 the international student office put their hand to such tasks as student recruitment, development, management, and services, through innovating student recruitment measures, perfecting support systems, improving management levels, and raising service quality. They attained extraordinary successes in the fields of recruiting high quality students, abundance of educational resources, innovative work ideas, and encouraging interactions between local and foreign students. In 2016 RUC had over 1400 international students from 108 countries, over 500 short-term students, and over 200 students as part of exchange agreements with other academic institutions.
On the 31st of October 2016, the conference on “China’s International Student Administration Work” was held; this conference was aimed at thoroughly implementing the 2014 National International Student work conference’s report titled “Some Opinions Regarding Opening up Education to International Students in the New School Term.” This document highlighted the need to plan and implement the important task of strengthening international student administration, also mentioned in the 13th 5-year plan. The task of improving education for RUC’s international students has consistently been a focal point as part of the plan for the university’s to internationalise, and it recognises that developing a university means meeting the needs of the people both locally and internationally. The school’s leadership pride themselves on persevering at the task of improving international student’s education, training, administration, and services, and actively developing plans of action to continuously enriching the experiences of international students.
