2017.01.03
On the afternoon of the 23
rd of December, RUC Vice President HE Yaomin met with The Honourable Dr Karunasena Kodituwakku, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to China, who visited RUC to conduct an investigation into the possibility of further exchanges and collaboration between RUC and Sri Lanka’s tertiary education institutions.

The meeting began with Vice President HE welcoming Ambassador Kodituwakku. He informed the Ambassador that RUC is a comprehensive research university with a focus on the humanities and social sciences, with nine of its disciplines ranking in the top nine nationally, such as economics, administration, and law. RUC is eager to expand cooperation and exchanges between universities, especially in the fields of student exchange and “belt and road” research, and welcomes more Sri Lankan students to come to RUC to take part in its short-term study courses for international students and its English Master’s programs.
Ambassador Kodituwakku then took the opportunity to brief Vice President HE on the current state of higher education in Sri Lanka, expressing hope that this meeting would serve as a turning point to strengthen collaboration between Sri Lanka’s tertiary institutions and research organisations and Renmin University in the fields such as think-tank research and student and academic exchanges.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Kodituwakku participated in a special program to celebrate Phoenix Television’s 15
th anniversary, which was filmed on campus. In the program he discussed with RUC students such topics as economics, religion, culture, education, and tourism, also fielding questions on Sino-Sri Lankan relations, and the effects of and countermeasures implemented against climate change.
