On the afternoon of the 10^th of January, just before the springtime festivities, the RUC leadership team – JIN Nuo, LIU Wei, ZHANG Jianming, WANG Liming, YI Zhihong, WU Fulai, HONG Dayong, HE Yaomin, WU Xiaoqiu, ZHENG Shuiquan and LIU Yuanchun – went to visit former Director of the National Economic Commission and former RUC President YUAN Baohua, so as to pay their respects and wish him season’s greetings, happiness, health, and longevity. The visit took place at former President YUAN Baohua’s house, where Chairwoman JIN introduced him to all the other members of the leadership team, and extended season’s greetings to him on behalf of the University, its staff and students. She then thanked the former President for the contribution that he made to the University and for his continued care and support, also taking the time to brief him on the latest developments at the University, including the preparations for the 80^th anniversary celebration of the University’s founding and the development of the new East Campus in Tongzhou. The centenarian and former President YUAN was hale and hearty, listening attentively and nodding his head in approval. The former President shook each of the leaders’ hands in turn giving his greetings, and expressing his approval at the recent achievements of the University, saying that he was deeply touched that so many of his colleagues would come and visit him. He then said that he has closely followed the developments of the university, from when RUC moved from Yan’an to Beijing, and that over its 80 years of glorious history, it has developed a fine curriculum and work style, and he expressed belief that this current leadership will without doubt further the University along the road to success and accomplishment. Former President YUAN then had a group photo with the leadership group, expressing his sincerest best wishes to the University, its leaders, staff and students, wishing them a happy new year and happiness to all their families. Former President YUAN was born in January 1916, and was the third President of RUC, serving from 1985 to 1991. In December 2013, Collected Works of YUAN Baohua was published by Renmin University Press, consisting of his discussions on such topics as economic development, resource management, enterprise management, industry management as well as other subject areas. The collected works took five years to compile, and brings together many of his famous and unpublished works, starting from 1945 when he left Yan’an to join the War of Liberation in the Northeast, to his 2012 memoirs of his life experiences, including writings about his participation in the ‘December the 12^th Movement.’
