Chair of the Beijing University Sports Association DU Songpeng visits the Training Session of the Beijing University Students Men’s Volleyball Team

On the 8th of February, the Chair of the Beijing University Sports Association DU Songpeng came to RUC to meet and greet the Beijing University Students men’s volleyball team, along with RUC deputy Chairman WU Fulai.
Chairman DU greeted the students and their coach, also extending his gratitude to RUC for its help and support in the competition. He gave a brief speech about the competition, noting that preparations for this competition were tense and hard work, and expressed hope that the students would be able to manage to balance their studies with their training, and that the students should treat this preliminary match as if it were a finals match, and to play a high quality contest.
Chairman WU also attended to meet and greet the competitors despite it being so soon after the Spring Festival. He said that the men’s volleyball programme brought the students together, that RUC is closely following this competition, and that the university will support their training to the utmost, finally expressing hope that the competitors will put their all into training so as to give their best possible performance on game day.
Following, both sides got together to have a meeting, discussing the state of sports at university, as well as the particulars of the competition.
The thirteenth session of the Students Sports Meet will take place in Hangzhou between the 4th and 16th of September, and is the first time that university and middle school students will get together to compete in a national competition. It is being hosted by the Zhejiang provincial government, the China University Sports Association and the China Middle School Sports Association. The events being held are swimming, track and field, basketball, soccer, volleyball, ping pong, calisthenics, martial arts, badminton, and tennis. RUC has had a history of high achievement in men’s volleyball, winning the China University Students volleyball competition three years in a row from 2013 to 2015 – this year the China University Students volleyball team is composed of students from RUC, Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Sports University, and Beijing Jiaotong University.
