On the 20^th of February, on the first day of class of the second semester of the 2016-2017 academic year at RUC, executive vice President WANG Liming called on a class of postgraduate students, and vice President HONG Dayong called on a class of undergraduate students and Master’s students, to visit the teachers and students and to understand what would be happening in classes in the new semester. All were satisfied with how well the new semester had started. Executive vice President WANG and his entourage first called on room 404 in Ming De Main building, and attended the first lecture in the School of Economics held by associate professor CHENG Hua titled ‘e-finance.’ A discussion was held between executive vice President WANG, associate professor CHENG and the students, welcoming the students back to class, and he gave the students some advice on how to get the most out of their studies, also taking the opportunity to pass on new year’s greetings on behalf of the leadership at RUC. Following, executive vice President WANG and his entourage inspected the conditions of the graduate student classrooms at the School of History, the School of Finance, the School of Law, the School of Journalism, the School of Environment and Natural Resources, and the School of Commerce. Also in attendance was the executive dean of the Graduate School LIU Fengliang. Vice President HONG called on undergraduate classes in public education buildings 2 and 3, where associate professor TANG Jie of the School of Public Administration was preparing to give a lecture titled ‘social investigation research methods,’ and took the time to converse with the students and their lecturer, to understand what was happening in the class. Following, vice President HONG called on an English class, and then went to visit undergraduate classes in the School of Statistics, the School of Sociology and Population Studies, the School of Environment and Natural Resources, the School of Information, and the Department of Physics. Then he called on a class of Master’s by research students, and passing on his greetings for the new year. In the new semester of the 2016-2017 academic year, 1205 lecturers are giving 1169 undergraduate courses, 1005 lecturers are offering 1245 academic research courses, and 384 lecturers are offering 459 specialist research courses.
