First “One Belt One Road Initiative” Event successfully held on RUC Campus
2017.05.09

On April 25, “Entering Mass Media—One Belt One Road Initiative” nationwide campus event was held for the first time at RUC, where former Chinese ambassador to Ecuador, Cuba and Argentina XU Yicong and RUC students freely discussed the One Belt One Road Initiative and its influence on the rest of the world.

Before the event began, RUC Vice President HONG Dayong met with former Chinese Ambassador XU Yicong and delegation. VP HONG on behalf of RUC extended her thanks to the delegation for their visit and shared stories of national diplomacy, as well as cooperation on both sides between China and Latin American higher educational institutes.

Former Chinese Ambassador XU Yicong reflected on his own diplomacy career in Cuba, Republic of Ecuador, Argentina, and other foreign countries. He mentioned that the Latin American civilization has had a long and rich history that has greatly influenced world civilization. Latin America has many works of literature that have been translated into Chinese and received praise from Chinese readers. These cultural manifestations reflect common sentiments of the people of both nations. Former Chinese Ambassador XU Yicong also believes that the old existing ties China and Latin American nations have at sea will not limit the One Belt One Road Initiative, but rather Latin America will fully engage and readily welcome it. He encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities presented and help establish and support fully the One Belt One Road Initiative.

This event was organized and sponsored by Xinhua International and Communist Youth League Committee of RUC, and co-sponsored by Youth RUC.
