On May 15, RUC Chairwoman JIN Nuo met with Costas KADIS from Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and delegation for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Both sides discussed at length higher education, culture exchanges and cooperation between RUC and Cyprus. RUC Vice President YI Zhihong, education department’s international cooperation and exchange director YU Xuhai was in attendance along with Cyprus Ambassador to China Agis LOIZOU and delegation.
Chairwoman JIN Nuo on behalf of RUC gave a warm welcome to Costas KADIS and delegation, briefly introducing RUC, Belt and Road research and Cyprus higher education areas open for development. She expressed, the Chinese and Cyprus government have signed a cooperation agreement stating that RUC is Asia and Europe’s most important member for people-to-people exchange, and under this framework and system, RUC and Cyprus higher education institutes have ample room for development, to increase exchanges and enhance cooperation, to broaden the future for both sides.
Costas KADIS extended his thanks to RUC, and congratulated RUC on its 80th anniversary, and introduced the current developments of Cyprus higher education institutes. He expressed, RUC has a long history, and the campus is beautiful; it is an institution built on excellence. He felt that the Belt and Road is not only an economical cooperation, but also cooperation in culture. China and Cyprus signed a cooperative education agreement during the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. He hopes to promote cooperation with RUC and Cyprus higher education institutes under this framework.
Vice President YI Zhihong talked about student exchanges, and inter-collegiate cooperation as well as strategic alliances in three levels for international cooperation and exchanges. She expressed, RUC supports student and teacher exchanges at Cyprus, and welcomed Cyprus teachers and students to do exchanges at RUC, and gradually open and develop more collaboration with Cyprus higher education institutes.
Cyprus Ambassador to China Agis LOIZOU congratulated RUC on its 80th anniversary. He expressed that Cyprus Embassy fully supports China-Cyprus higher education institutes and invites RUC representatives to visit Cyprus to increase cooperation between the two schools.
Attendees included RUC International Director ZHANG Xiaojing, School of Economics Committee Vice President GUAN Xueling, School of Business Dean MAO Jiye, and School of Law Vice Dean SHI Yanan, among other distinguished guests.
Before the meeting KADIS and delegation took a tour of the University Museum, and accepted interviews. He praised RUC for its notable achievements and again congratulated RUC on its 80th anniversary.
