Macquarie University Vice Chancellor and President visits RUC

On October 16, Australia's Macquarie University Vice Chancellor and President Bruce Dowton visited RUC, along with Macquarie University International Affairs Vice Chancellor Nicole Brigg, Dean of School of Humanities Simon Handley, International Cooperation and Development Director David Harrison, Higher Degree Research Office Assistant Director Barbara Watson, and International Cooperation and Development Assistant Director FAN Fan and Senior Manager LIAO Yinyin.

That day, RUC President LIU Wei met with Macquarie University delegation, accompanied by Vice President DU Peng. LIU Wei warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and introduced RUC’s current developments. He expressed Macquarie University has always been one of the closest partners of RUC in Australia. Both sides have cooperated frequently and partnered together on several cooperative programs in various capacities. He hopes that both sides can continue to strengthen and deepen their partnership, and strive together to build the possibility for even more platforms for cooperation.

President Dowton expressed, RUC is a key strategic partner of Macquarie University, and is among China’s most influential cooperative partners. Currently, both sides maintain great rapport and he is fully confident in the continued development of both universities.

Director of Office of International Exchange ZHANG Xiaojing and Graduate School Vice President DUAN Chengrong also attended the meeting.

That day, RUC and Macquarie University jointly held Macquarie Day. President Dowton introduced the topic of “Teamwork, Leadership and Personal Development”, and invited in-depth discussion which was warmly received by students with much laughter and applause.

Besides, as one of the series of lectures organized by RUC Foreign Affairs Training lecture series, Macquarie University Vice Chancellor, Assistant Director of Higher Degree Office of Foreign Affairs Barbara Watson and Secretary of Foreign Affairs, along with other relevant parties including postgraduates, cultivated the lectures for these projects. Macquarie University International Cooperation Director David Harrison also created a career development lecture especially for students. Macquarie University School of Humanities Dean Simon Handley visited RUC School of Psychology and Department of Psychology Director HU Ping, Vice Director WEN Xiaotong to discuss in depth collaboration and exchange.

Macquarie University Vice Chancellor and President Dowton with delegation visited the campus JD.com unmanned distribution vehicles, clearly intrigued and excited to learn more about Jingdong Group developments thus far, congratulating RUC for cultivating outstanding alumni such as LIU Qiangdong.
