On July 2nd, the 2021 Chinese Studies Program Doctoral Students Workshop was held. This year’s workshop was jointly organized by the Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture and RUC School of Sociology and Population Studies, and was supported by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education. Sixty teachers and students from 10 countries participated in the workshop online and offline. This year, RUC doctoral students were invited to communicate with the CSP doctoral students on the topics of common interest in the field of sociology, and younger generation scholars provided comments and guidance for the students’ presentations. Qualified presenters will be recommended to join the 7th World Conference on Sinology to be held at RUC Suzhou campus in November this year. 21 doctoral students from Renmin University of China, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Fudan University, Beijing Language and Culture University, State University of Campinas, Waseda University and École Normale Supérieure de Lyon gave presentations and discussed seven hot spot topics around the world: aging and health, industrial transformation and technological upgrading, globalization and localization, urbanization and spatial-temporal construction, nationality and ethnic groups, family and education, and Chinese studies in the new era. The Chinese Studies Program (CSP) has sponsored nearly 700 doctoral students from 75 countries to pursuit degree programs or conduct short-term research in China. The Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture at Renmin University of China serves as the Secretariat of the CSP Expert Committee, and organizes forums and workshops for CPS students every year.
