Vice President RUC Prof. ZHU Xinkai and his team has recently received the joint-funding from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the National Science Foundation of the United States (NSF), for their research project “Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems in Conservation Tillage: A Comprehensive Evaluation Based on Crops and Economic Models.” This is the first time RUC has received this joint funding.
This year, NSFC and NSF triggered an interdisciplinary research project on “Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems.” After several rounds of rigorous evaluation of nearly a hundred applications from both countries, three teams were selected for the joint funding.
The research will be conducted by a joint team including the School of Agricultural Economics & Rural Development RUC, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Michigan State University, University of Pennsylvania and University of California at Berkley. During the implementation period (January 1st, 2021 — December 31st, 2024), member institutes will work closely together to provide scientific strategies for the world in food security, energy security, resource and environmental security.
