Professor John P. A. Ioannidis’s team from Stanford University released the list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022 on October 10. Prof. Wei Chu from the School of Applied Economics of RUC was among the list, relating to the fields of energy and economics.
The list selects the world’s top 2% scientists from nearly 7 million scientists based on the Scopus database, within the period of 1960-2022. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. Six key indicators are involved in the scoring: (1) total citations; (2) Hirsch H-index; (3) Schreiber Hm-index corrected for co-authorship; (4) single authorship; (5) single or first authorship; (6) citations of articles by single, first, or last author.
Two rankings, for career-long (1960-2022) and for 2022 scientific impact, have been announced. The latter covers 200,409 scholars worldwide, among which 19,549 are Chinese. A total of 28 scholars from RUC have been enlisted, mainly in the fields of artificial intelligence and image processing, mathematics, physics, chemistry and so on.
Prof. Wei Chu’s research focuses on energy and environmental economics, climate change economics as well as productivity and efficiency analysis. In recent years, he has published papers in various journals including Chinese Social Sciences, Management World, PNAS and Nature Energy. He has been listed in the Elsevier “Highly Cited Scholars in China” (Applied Economics) in 2020 and 2021.
