On June 25, Renmin University of China (RUC) was proud to host both the Mid-2023 China Macroeconomic Forum (CMF) and the Hu Naiwu Academic Scholarship Award Ceremony. Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, delivered an insightful speech.

The forum was led by Yang Ruilong, a prominent RUC Professor, co-chairman of CMF, and deputy director of the Institute of Economic Research. Yan Yan, vice-chairman of CMF and chairman of Chengxin International Credit Rating Co., Ltd., co-chaired the event.

The event commenced with the Hu Naiwu Academic Scholarship Award Ceremony. Eight students, selected by the School of Economics and the School of Applied Economics at RUC, were honored by the Education Foundation in Memory of Professor Hu Naiwu with the inaugural Scholarship. Ning Jizhe and Wang Yi presented the awards to the deserving students.

In the second segment of the forum, Wang Yi, representing RUC, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, both present in-person and online, as well as to the teachers, peers, media representatives, and friends. He noted that the CMF, since its inception 17 years ago, has remained dedicated to monitoring China’s macroeconomic trends and conducting research on significant economic issues on the frontier. In its tenure, it has hosted nearly 210 conferences and forums and has published over 600 reports.

Wang Yi further stated that this forum had drawn together experts from various sectors including government, industry, academia, and research to share their in-depth perspectives on China’s macro-economy. The objective was to help shape the future direction of China’s economy.

Liu Xiaoguang, on behalf of the forum, unveiled the CMF quarterly report. Following this, the attendees collaboratively discussed the present macroeconomic scenario, expressing their views and opinions in the light of the CMF quarterly report.

Eminent attendees at the event included Ning Jizhe, deputy director of the Economic Committee, Jiang Xiaojuan, president of the Chinese Society of Industrial Economics, Gao Peiyong, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Liu Yuanchun, president of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Mao Zhenhua, co-director of RUC’s Institute of Economic Research, Liu Xiaoguang, professor at the National Academy of Development and Strategy, and others.
