CGTN's "China in My Eyes" media campaign officially launched

The launch ceremony of the "China in My Eyes" media action jointly launched by CGTN and nine well-known domestic universities was held at Renmin University of China (RUC) on October 10.


Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, Lin Shangli, President of RUC, Fan Yun, Editor in Chief of CGTN, and Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, attended the event and witnessed the opening ceremony together with guests and young students from universities in Beijing and Shanghai.


At the event, five well-known CGTN anchors and new media opinion leaders shared their experiences and insights in international communication practice. Li Jingjing, opinion leader of CGTN New Media, said that everyone is an envoy of international communication, and we should dare to speak out, be good at fighting, and actively convey China's voice and propositions in the international public opinion field. Zhao Nan, the opinion leader of CGTN New Media, believes that in international communication work, it is necessary to tell Chinese stories in a way that foreign netizens are happy to hear, to moisten things silently and transform the wind into rain. Liu Xin, CGTN news anchor, looks forward to the active participation of more young students who are interested in international communication and jointly build a just, peaceful and prosperous world.


Two undergraduates majoring in international journalism and communication from the School of Journalism at RUC share their understanding of international communication careers. Among them, Uyghur student Naza hopes to speak for her hometown and let the world see the real Xinjiang and the real China. Ge Rongchen, a young woman of Generation Z, said that it is necessary to give full play to the advantages of the Internet and clarify misunderstandings and prejudices about China. In the interactive question-and-answer session, the participants spoke enthusiastically and expressed their insights on international communication.


The "China in My Eyes" media campaign was initiated by CGTN and jointly carried out by nine universities including RUC, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Communication University of China, Shanghai International Studies University and Beijing Language and Culture University. Based on the principle of "complementing each other's strengths and serving the country", the event aims to cultivate and incubate a group of compound international communication talents with strong political quality, excellent business ability, proficiency in foreign languages, familiarity with Generation Z voice, and understanding of overseas social media operations, to better tell Chinese stories and spread the voice of China.
