Central Economic Work Conference was held on October 30th -31th in Beijing. President Xi Jinping attended the conference and delivered a significant speech. He stressed that finance is the lifeline of the national economy and a key component of the core national competitiveness. China should accelerate the process of becoming a powerful nation in economy, strengthen the financial regulation, improve the financial system, optimize the financial service, prevent and resolve the potential risk. China should persist the path of financial development with Chinese characteristics, facilitate China’s financial development of high quality and provide strong support for constructing a powerful nation and realizing national rejuvenation. The concept of “Building a Leading Financial Power” was proposed for the first time at this conference.
In the past five years, Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China(RDCY), as a new type of think tank with Chinese characteristics, has been continuously deepening the research in the concept of “Building a Leading Financial Power”. RDCY successively wrote five books of the series of “building a leading financial power”: The Time of Great Finance, Monetary Sovereignty: The Cornerstone of a Leading Financial Power, Trap of Negative Interest Rate: The Reflection of the Western Financial Power, China’s Financial Soft Power, Green Finance: New Momentum of Financial Power. These books have already aroused extensive attention from all walks of life.
