RUC Signs Agreement for Chenghai Institute for Global Development and Security Donation and Construction

On January 15, a significant event unfolded at RUC – the signing ceremony for the establishment of the "Chenghai Institute for Global Development and Security." Ye Chenghai, an esteemed RUC alumnus, Xinlitai founder, and Vice Chair of RUC's Board of Directors, pledged a generous donation of approximately RMB 150 million in stocks through Shenzhen Runfu Investment and Development Co., Ltd. This donation is earmarked for the "Ye Chenghai Fund," dedicated to the creation and operation of the aforementioned institute.

The ceremony, attended by key figures including Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, Lin Shangli, President and Vice Chair of the University Counci, and Ye Chenghai himself, was presided over by Zheng Shuiquan.

Lin Shangli lauded Ye Chenghai's benevolence, emphasizing its reflection of firm beliefs, expansive vision, sincere sentiments, and strategic insights. Ye's consistent support for the university's development, particularly in the School of International Sturdies, has been instrumental in discipline construction, faculty development, talent cultivation, scientific research, and international exchanges.

Ye Chenghai, expressing gratitude for RUC's influential academic environment, articulated his expectations for the institute's development. These include setting ambitious goals, assembling a world-class team, formulating long-term strategic plans, and maintaining a rigorous academic style based on seeking truth from facts.

Ye Chenghai, born in 1943, rose from humble beginnings in Guangdong to become an exemplary figure. After graduating from RUC in 1963, he embarked on a journey marked by intelligence, academic excellence, and a commitment to seeking truth from facts. His subsequent success in grassroots work and entrepreneurship didn't deter his deep connection with RUC. Over the years, his significant donations, including the establishment of the "Ye Chenghai Fund," have played a crucial role in various initiatives, such as the construction of the International Studies School building and the naming of the "Ye Chenghai Building."
