On the morning of February 22, the completion ceremony of the first phase of the academic building in the west district of Tongzhou new campus was held.
Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, Lin Shangli, President of RUC, Zheng Xuexuan, Chairman of China State Construction Group Co., LTD., and relevant government officials of all levels as well as members of the leadership team of RUC attended the event.
The on-site meeting was presided over by Lin Shangli and attended by representatives of different departments of the university, teachers, students, and alumni.
On behalf of RUC, Zhang Donggang expressed his gratitude to people from all walks of life who have cared for and supported the construction of Tongzhou new campus and the development of RUC. He pointed out, as the only national key university in the core area of Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, the construction of Tongzhou new campus of RUC is an important component of the construction of Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, and an important measure to relieve Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as China's capital.
He also said that RUC will continue promoting the construction of Tongzhou new campus, and is determined to build Tongzhou new campus into a demonstration campus in the new era, making new and greater contributions to build a better educational power.
Zheng Xuexuan said that China Construction Group attaches great importance to the construction of Tongzhou new campus, and has successfully overcome the arduous challenges of tight schedule, heavy tasks, high standards, and various difficulties, promoting the project to achieve the node target on schedule.
Moving forward, China Construction Group will further strengthen the performance management of Tongzhou New Campus project of RUC, complete various construction tasks with high standards and high quality, ensure the timely delivery of high-quality projects, and promote the high-quality cooperation between Chinese central state-owned enterprises and universities in the new era.
Lin Shangli introduced the construction progress of the new campus and the basic situation of the completed projects. He said that the construction has always been implemented with the interests of teachers and students at its core, and adhered to high standards of planning, high-quality construction, efficient management in order to meet the overall teaching, scientific research, experiments, office, life, communication, and other functional needs. He also added that RUC will strive to build a demonstration campus.
Tongzhou new campus is located in Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, which is in the west of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and government, possessing a total land area of about 1652 acres, construction scale of about 1.05 million square meters. At present, Tongzhou new campus has started the construction of 12 building groups of about 660,000 square meters. Besides, in the first half of this year, a total of 8 building clusters, which cover about 500,000 square meters, will be completed.
A graduate student from the School of Journalism is full of expectation for Tongzhou new campus. She said that the new campus is convenient to travel, which only takes 30 minutes to go to the internship unit and 15 minutes to arrive at Capital Airport and 25 minutes to Daxing Airport. It is also close to shopping centers and city parks, providing great convenience for students to relax on weekends.
Tongzhou new campus is surrounded by a beautiful environment with complete supporting facilities such as libraries, museums, theaters, fitness centers, and large commercial complexes. In the campus, a "one-stop" student community and learning centers are built simultaneously, so that students can learn anytime and anywhere.
