In 2023, the Ministry of Education released the list of prize-winners of the 2022 Higher Education(postgraduate) National Teaching Achievement Award, which was the first time in history that there had been a single category for postgraduate education in this award. A total of 284 achievements were graded, including 1 special prize, 35 first prizes and 248 second prizes.
The 7 projects of RUC were all selected and gained excellent achievements, including 4 first prizes and 3 second prizes, and the total number of first prizes ranked first in China.
Over the years, RUC has optimized the system and model of talent training, and has explored and established a multi-dimensional innovative talent training model that combines undergraduate, postgraduate and doctor’s studies vertically and cross-disciplines horizontally.
Besides, RUC has promoted the high-quality development of postgraduate education in an all-round way by making innovative efforts in building academic platforms, training young scholars and organizing international teaching exchange activities.
"Graduate students are the vanguard for promoting knowledge growth. They should be based on research-oriented learning, researching in learning, and creating something new through research", President Lin Shangli said at the opening ceremony for the Class of 2023 graduate students.
RUC has attached great importance to strengthening the training foundation, improving the academic training system, improving the incentive system for scientific research and innovation, and supporting the whole process of scientific research projects, thesis writing and academic exchanges, so as to enhance students' discipline confidence, academic interest and scientific research ability.
Through long-term training and integrated design, the university has reshaped the training system of organic connection between curriculum teaching, scientific research practice and practical training. It’s worth mentioning that the School of Journalism and the School of Philosophy will implement a new graduate training program from 2024.
"We should develop professional degree graduate education and combine it well with academic degree graduate education to better meet the needs of economic and social development, and form a comprehensive pattern of high-quality development." Feng Shizheng, Vice President of RUC and dean of the Graduate School said.
By the end of 2023, RUC has made achievements in promoting the construction of two academic clusters, namely, high-end talents in global governance (international), data science and artificial intelligence.
To vigorously promote the spirit of educators, give play to the exemplary and leading role of excellent tutors is the focus of the postgraduate education exploration and reform of RUC.
To this end, the Graduate School has carried out 7 rounds of research and held more than 20 research activities, covering 34 schools (departments and research institutes) of the university, solicited opinions and suggestions through representative discussions, special seminars, written interviews and other ways, repeatedly revised more than 10 versions, and constantly improved the management of graduate supervisors.
As the pinnacle of academic education, graduate education has become a key link in cultivating top-notch innovative talents. In the face of changes, RUC is fully aware of the new mission and new responsibility of graduate education, and takes advantage of the opportunity to create a more outstanding graduate education.
Moving forward, RUC will continue to explore innovative talent training models, and strive to cultivate more academic leaders, governance talents, industry innovation leaders and outstanding talents who actively participate in global development.
