On April 13, the Department of Digital Economy of RUC and the Applied Mathematics Center of RUC were inaugurated in Beijing and Shenzhen respectively.
The establishment of these two institutions not only shows the firm determination and strategic vision of RUC to actively expand the application fields of disciplines and deepen interdisciplinary research, but also provides a strong platform for the university's research and practice in the field of digital economy and applied mathematics, and makes continuous contributions to promoting high-quality economic and social development.
On April 13, the founding conference of the Department of Digital Economy of RUC and the Academic Forum on Future Economics in the Era of Digital Civilization were held in Beijing. Related experts and officials from universities, industry associations and governments were in attendance.
Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, presided over the founding conference. Liu Shouying, Dean of the School of Economics of RUC, introduced the construction of the department of digital economy and the digital economy discipline.
Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, and Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, together with several experts, inaugurated the Department of Digital Economy.
After the founding conference, the Academic Forum on Future Economics in the Era of Digital Civilization, sponsored by the School of Economics of RUC and the China Institute of Economic Reform and Development, was held.
The participating experts respectively made keynote presentations around various topics including " How to load data into the discipline system" "Education, teaching and talent training of digital economy" "Data elements and data economics" "Market design and digital economy" "Artificial intelligence and social equity" and "Artificial intelligence: from technological singularity to economic singularity" etc.
In the afternoon of the same day, two sub-forums, "New Rules of Economic Operation in the Era of Digital Civilization" and "New Paradigm and New Method of Economic Research in the Era of Digital Civilization" were held.
At the same time, the opening ceremony of the Applied Mathematics Center of RUC (Shenzhen) and the special academic seminar on applied Mathematics were held in Shenzhen. Related experts and officials from universities, industry associations and governments were in attendance. Zheng Zhiyong, Dean of the School of Mathematics of RUC, presided over the ceremony.

After the unveiling ceremony, an academic seminar on applied mathematics was held. Experts attending the symposium made keynote reports respectively around topics including "A Preliminary study of blockchain performance optimization for Open Environment" "High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence Driven biological Big Data Analysis" "Inclusive financial Scenario Practice of digital credit" "Data value release path: Based on the perspective of data assets " etc.
On October 14, 2023, RUC founded the Institute of Advanced Social Sciences (Shenzhen), where the first batch of seven research centers were built, and the Applied Mathematics Center (Shenzhen) was unveiled as the eighth research center.
It serves the school to build a national interdisciplinary center, undertakes the cutting-edge research of applied mathematics and related interdisciplinary disciplines and the training of interdisciplinary leading talents, creates a new normal of interdisciplinary convergence and cross-border integration of multi-technologies, and gives birth to new disciplinary frontiers, new scientific and technological fields and new forms of innovation.
