Vice President Zheng Xinye meet with Egyptian Ambassador

On 29 April, Zheng Xinye, Vice President of Renmin University of China (RUC), and his delegation visited the Embassy of Egypt in Beijing and met with the Egyptian Ambassador to China, Assem Hanafi.

Zheng Xinye introduced the basic situation of RUC and its exchanges with Egyptian universities. He said that Egypt is an important African country that has a long history just as China. RUC attaches great importance to carry out exchanges and cooperation with Egypt and other African universities, and has already made steady progress with multiple higher institutions such as Cairo University and Ain Shams University. In the future, RUC hopes to further expand cooperation with Egyptian universities and attract more undergraduate, master's and doctoral students to study at RUC. Research and cooperation on climate change, sustainable development, food security would greatly promote economic and social development of both countries and the resolution of regional and global issues.


Assem Hanafi welcomed the visit of the delegation of RUC. He said that Egypt thinks highly of the relations with China. In recent years, China-Egypt relations have continued to deepen, and the year 2024 will mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China. Hanafi said that RUC is viewed as a benchmark in humanities and social sciences within China and it is expected that RUC would deepen academic and scientific research cooperation with Egyptian higher and research institutes, so as to promote Sino-Egyptian cultural and educational exchanges and advance the comprehensive partnership to a new level.

The two sides reached a preliminary consensus on jointly promoting humanities exchanges, talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation.
