On May 15, the second General Assembly of the EU-China Humanities and Arts Education Alliance was held in Chengdu. And the re-election of the second council of the Alliance was completed.

RUC was re-elected as the Executive Vice chair unit and secretariat unit of the alliance, and Vice President Zheng Xinye was elected as the second president of the Alliance.

Zheng stated in his speech that the first council of the Alliance has achieved phased results under the strong support of all member units, laying a solid foundation for the layout of the second council work.

He stressed that cultural and artistic exchanges and educational cooperation are of great significance in China-EU relations, and also play an important role in promoting mutual learning among civilizations. He expressed the hope that the alliance will adhere to the principles of openness, equality, respect and inclusiveness, build the alliance into an exchange platform for sustainable development, continuously deepen the connotation of the China-EU high-level exchange mechanism, and promote exchanges and mutual learning between China and Europe.

In addition, he also said that RUC, as the executive Vice chair unit and secretariat unit of the alliance, will continue to support the work of the alliance, actively promote exchanges and cooperation in humanities and arts education between China and Europe, and make contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The second council of the Alliance is composed of eight vice chair units, 26 governing units, one executive vice chair, eight vice chairs and 27 governing members.

Du Peng, former vice president of RUC, was elected chairman of the expert committee of the Alliance. Zhang Chun, dean of the Academy of Arts, was elected executive secretary of the Alliance, and Qi Yue, vice dean of the Academy of Arts, was elected deputy secretary general.

In the discussion session of the work plan of the alliance, Zhang Chun, executive secretary of the Alliance, said that the alliance should integrate high-quality resources in the field of humanities and arts between China and the EU, strengthen cooperation and exchanges between relevant units of the Alliance, strengthen academic construction and the construction and promotion of independent knowledge system of humanities and arts disciplines, and help build the mechanism of high-level exchanges between China and the EU.

The conferring ceremony of the certificate of the second Council was also held, and the Chengdu Initiative of the EU-China Humanities and Arts Education Alliance was released. More than 90 representatives of alliance member units attended the meeting.

As the executive unit of the first and second secretariat of the Alliance, the School of Art of RUC, relying on the advantages of the school’ s humanities and social sciences disciplines, has successfully established an international training program for high-level and innovative talents in art between China and Europe, the Sino-French "Global Youth Multidimensional Dialogue" academic activities etc.
