The delegation of Hitotsubashi University (HU), led by Nakano Satoshi, President of HU and Yamada Atsushi, Vice President of HU, visited Renmin University of China (RUC) on May 22.
Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, expressed his warm welcome to the delegation and thanked HU for its support of the 2024 Social Impact and Global Management Alliance (SIGMA) Annual Conference and Academic Seminar. He highlighted the strategic cooperation agreement signed between RUC and HU in October 2023, which elevated the collaboration between the two institutions to a new level. He noted that the upcoming 11th Asia Policy Forum, co-hosted by both universities later this year, is expected to achieve higher levels of academic exchange and cooperation, making it a model for high-end academic collaboration.
Zhang Donggang emphasized the importance of deepening efficient and pragmatic exchanges to advance higher education in both countries. He expressed hope that the two universities could further enhance their cooperation, fostering a new mechanism for Sino-Japanese cultural exchange and mutual learning. He also envisioned the joint efforts of top scholars from both nations to address global challenges and contribute innovative solutions to the world's most pressing issues.
Nakano Satoshi acknowledged the longstanding and profound collaboration between RUC and HU in various fields such as law, economics, business administration, and sociology. He noted the extensive and in-depth exchanges in joint training and scientific research. Nakano appreciated the SIGMA Annual Conference for providing a valuable platform for member universities to exchange ideas. He looked forward to hosting the 11th Asia Policy Forum at HU later this year, anticipating that the event would spark insightful discussions among attending experts and scholars. Nakano affirmed HU’s commitment to strengthening its research cooperation with RUC, contributing positively to the development of academic circles in both universities and the broader Asian region.
The delegation from HU included Hoshino Yuki, Strategic Office Staff and Jia Shenyi, China Exchange Center Assistant. RUC representatives attending the meeting included Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, Huang Wenyi, Dean of the School of Law, Yan Jinming, Dean of the School of Public Administration and Policy, Li Yong, Deputy Dean of the School of Economics, Yuan Yilin, Deputy Director of International Office, and Xu Yuan, Deputy Director of the Japanese Department in the School of Foreign Languages.
