Book Launch of the Multilingual Edition of the "Chinese Modernization Research Series" Held

On the afternoon of June 19th, a joint new book launch event for the English, Kazakh, Uzbek, and Traditional Chinese editions of the "Chinese Modernization Research Series" was held by China Renmin University Press, Cengage Group Gale, Eurasia-Astana Publishing House, Silk Road Publishing House, and Hong Kong Zhonghua Book Company together. 


Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, and Li Yongqiang, Chairman of China Renmin University Press, attended the book launch. Other guests in attendance were leaders from the companies and the pressed mentioned above as well as several government officials. The launch ceremony was hosted by Wang Lei, Deputy General Manager of China Renmin University Press.

Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, pointed out that the publication of the multilingual editions not only broadens the international influence of the series but also provides a precious opportunity for global readers to deeply understand Chinese modernization. He looked forward to these editions of the series becoming a bridge connecting different cultures and countries, contributing to mutual understanding and friendship, and promoting the modernization process of each country.

Wang Hua, a government official, stated that the overseas distribution of the "Chinese Modernization Research Series" is a significant achievement of the cultural "going global" strategy. This series not only shows the common characteristics of modernization in various countries but also deeply reveals the unique charm and profound connotation of Chinese modernization.

Paul Gazzolo, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cengage Group Gale, expressed that the cooperation between Cengage Group Gale and Renmin University Press in publishing projects will help readers around the world to better understand China's latest development strategies. He sincerely looked forward to more fruitful and stronger cooperation with Renmin University Press, publishing more high-quality books about China to benefit readers around the world.

Adai Saiken, General Manager of Eurasia-Astana Publishing House, said that the academic community in Kazakhstan hoped that the Chinese academic and theoretical circles will further summarize the successful experience of modernization development, refine what they do, and provide references for the modernization construction of developing countries.

Kangde, General Editor-in-Chief of Silk Road Publishing House, said that the "Belt and Road" initiative has injected new vitality into the cooperation between China and Uzbekistan. Under the framework of this initiative, the two countries can not only carry out extensive cooperation in the economic field but also achieve in-depth exchanges in culture, education, science and technology, and other fields. The translation and publication of the "Chinese Modernization Research Series" in Uzbekistan is an important milestone in the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture and education. It is believed that through more academic exchanges and cooperation, the progress and development of both countries can be jointly promoted.

Li Yongqiang, Chairman of China Renmin University Press, said that the launch of the multilingual books this time is an important measure for us to actively respond to the "Belt and Road" initiative and promote the mutual learning of civilizations between China and foreign countries. He hoped that through the release of the multilingual editions of this series, the academic achievements of modernization research in China will go to the world, serve academia, and let more people understand China better. 


The event showcased some of the newly published multilingual editions of the "Research Series on Chinese Modernization."

Edited by Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, and Liu Wei, former president of RUC,  the series compiles the main research strengths of RUC to comprehensively study Chinese modernization. The overseas publication and distribution of the series help international audiences to understand China and Chinese people. To date, the series has published over 20 books in English, Uzbek, Kazakh, and Traditional Chinese.

To sum up, the launch event not only demonstrated the strength and influence of China Renmin University Press in the field of academic publishing but also made a significant contribution to expanding the overseas influence of Chinese modernization.

Established in 1955, China Renmin University Press was the first university press established after the founding of the People's Republic of China and has become a stronghold of humanistic and social science publishing in China. To date, the press has actively built a publishing cooperation community with "Belt and Road" countries, setting up overseas branches in Israel, Romania, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and other countries, striving to create an international brand for Chinese academic publishing and actively telling China's story and spreading China's voice to the world.
