On November 1st, Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China(RUC), met with Dong-One KIM, President of Korea University and his delegation.

Lin Shangli said that Korea University is an important partner of RUC. The two universities have similar advantages in humanities and social sciences, and attach great importance to the combination of emerging disciplines such as artificial intelligence and big data with traditional disciplines. He said that China and South Korea are at the forefront of the world in the scene application of artificial intelligence. The two universities should give full play to our advantages in the field of artificial intelligence, build innovation platforms, create research brands, gather top scholars, and jointly explore in the fields of social governance and economic development.

Dong-One KIM said that Korea University attaches great importance to its partnership with RUC. In the context of global challenges facing human society, such as climate change, population aging, and food safety, the two universities are expected to expand the breadth and depth of academic cooperation in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and artificial intelligence, strengthen exchanges among scholars, and work together to create a joint research mechanism to promote the partnership between the two universities to a higher level.

This visit was accompanied by Sang Kee SONG, Director of International Exchange Office of Korea University, Minsoo PARK, Secretary of the President, and Myunghwa JEON, Director of China Project. Representatives from International Office, School of Chinese Studies and Cultural Exchange, School of Business, and Student Accommodation Center of RUC participated in the meeting.
