On November 19, Wang Yi, Vice President of Renmin University of China (RUC), met with a delegation led by Vice President Hamar Imre of Roland University, Hungary.
Wang Yi warmly welcomed the delegation. She pointed out that RUC, guided by its motto of “seeking truth from facts,” is committed to pragmatic cooperation with global partners. She reflected on the fruitful achievements in academic exchanges and talent cultivation between the two universities since they signed a memorandum of understanding and a student exchange agreement in 2018.
Wang Yi noted that in June of this year,
the China-Hungary Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning between
Civilizations, jointly established by the two universities, was officially
inaugurated in Budapest, marking a new phase in their cooperation. She expressed
hope that the two universities would work together to fully implement the
center’s initiatives, utilize its platform to foster exchange between faculty
and students, and develop innovative solutions to common challenges faced by
China, Hungary, and humanity as a whole. She also extended a warm welcome for scholars
at Eötvös Loránd University to give lectures at RUC and participate in
prominent forums such as the World Conference on Sinology, the Wuyi Forum, and
the Tongzhou Global Development Forum, hoping the two sides can deepen
cooperation in the fields of Sinology, Chinese studies, and economics. Wang
also noted the importance of China-Hungary and China-Europe youth exchanges
with the goal of jointly cultivating globally competent talent
Vice President Hamar Imre emphasized the
great importance that Eötvös Loránd University attaches to its partnership with
RUC. He described the China-Hungary Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual
Learning between Civilizations as a valuable platform created through the
efforts of both institutions. He reiterated the university’s willingness to
provide facilities and support for the center and invited faculty and students
from RUC to visit Eötvös Loránd University. He also expressed a desire for both
universities to further deepen practical cooperation, contributing to more
substantial outcomes in their partnership.
The meeting also included discussions on the work plan for the China-Hungary Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning between Civilizations, as well as topics such as academic cooperation, joint talent cultivation, and disciplinary collaboration between the two universities.
Ye Qiuyue, Director of Chinese Affairs at Eötvös Loránd University, was also part of the visiting delegation. Representatives from RUC’s International Office, the School of Chinese Studies and Cultural Exchange, the School of Economics, and the Research Institute of Chinese Civilization also attended the meeting.
