The Disciplinary Construction of China's Forestry and Agricultural Economic Management Discipline Autonomous Knowledge System Alliance Conference, as well as the 70th Anniversary Forum of the School of Agriculture and Rural Development, RUC, was held in Mingde Hall on the morning of October 26th.
The conference was held to accelerate the exploration of a forestry and agricultural economic management discipline autonomous knowledge system of China, and to summarize the 70-year educational characteristics and experience of the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development.
Leaders from government departments of education, rural development, and professors from different universities, as well as the alumni, students, and teachers of the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, attended the conference. Zhu Xinkai, Executive Vice President of RUC, presided over the meeting.
Participants watched the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development's anniversary special film "Seven Decades of Splendor."
Lin Shangli, President of RUC, congratulated the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development on its 70 years of educational achievements on behalf of the university. He stated that the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development has resonated with national needs, kept pace with the times, and worked together with the university's construction. He hopes that the school will make new and greater contributions to comprehensively promoting rural revitalization and accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
Yan Ruizhen, one of the first batch of Honorary First-Level Professors of RUC and the founder of the former Department of Agricultural Economics, recalled his story of accompanying the Department of Agricultural Economics and the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. He said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Agricultural Economics and also his 70th year of teaching. He feels very honored to be a member of the "Agricultural Development Family" and is very happy to have grown together with the school. He hopes that the school will continue to forge ahead to create even more brilliant achievements.
Han Changfu, President of the China Rural Development Association, shared his memories of witnessing the development of the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development and congratulated the school on behalf of the China Rural Development Association. He said that over the past 70 years, the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development has achieved brilliant results in talent cultivation and has accumulated rich academic research outcomes. In June 2023, RUC and the China Rural Development Association signed an agreement to jointly build the China Rural Revitalization Research Institute. He hopes that the school and the research institute will continue to shoulder the mission of promoting comprehensive rural revitalization and contribute to the construction of China's forestry and agricultural economic management discipline autonomous knowledge system.
Huang Jikun, Dean of the Modern Agricultural School at Peking University, congratulated the School of Agriculture and Rural Development on behalf of Peking University's Modern Agricultural School. He said that over the past 70 years, the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at RUC has made outstanding achievements in agricultural economics talent training, scientific research, and social services, playing an important leading role among brother universities. He hopes that the Modern Agricultural School at Peking University and the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at RUC will deepen cooperation, work together, and join hands with other brother universities to promote new paths in agricultural economics discipline development, write a new chapter in agricultural economics discipline cooperation.
Chen Xiwen, the alumni representative, shared his school experience and the current situation of modernization of agriculture and rural areas. He said that the construction and development of the Department of Agricultural Economics and the School of Agriculture and Rural Development have kept pace with China's rural economic system reform. He hopes that the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development will leverage its disciplinary advantages, deeply understand the world, national conditions, and agricultural conditions, actively promote the construction of China's forestry and agricultural economic management discipline autonomous knowledge system, and better guide and promote the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
Niu Wenwen, the corporate alumni representative, expressed his gratitude to his alma mater in light of his entrepreneurial experience. He said that the training at the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development helped him ignite his enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship and develop a habit of diligent learning and good thinking. Chen Minpeng, a representative of the faculty and a young top talent in the field of national ecological environment protection, shared her journey of growth from a student to a young teacher at the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. She expressed her gratitude to the seniors for their careful guidance during her studies and thanked the school for its strong support on her path as an educator. As an educator, she will adhere to the spirit of innovation, continue to strengthen technological support, and maintain a commitment to seeking truth from facts.
In order to highlight the dedication of the teachers who have dedicated thirty years to the university, Zhu Xinkai read out the list of teachers who have contributed thirty years to the university. Student representatives presented flowers to representatives such as Yan Ruizhen, Cheng Shulan, Zeng Yinchu, Kong Xiangzhi, Tang Zhong, Li Jianghua, Zhang Xiuhua, and other teachers, expressing sincere gratitude and heartfelt respect to all the faculty and staff who have worked diligently and selflessly for a long time.
Li Jinzhu, a standing committee member of Fengyang County Committee, on behalf of Xiaogang Village in Anhui Province, presented a rural reform memorial item—the Xiaogang Village large millstone—to the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, to thank the school for its significant theoretical contributions to the household contract responsibility system with linked production. Zeng Bingjian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, accepted the memorial item on behalf of the school and issued a donation certificate to Li Jinzhu.
Fei Jia, Director of the Aesthetic Education Center at RUC, and student representatives from the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, sang "In the Fields of Hope" together, sending a beautiful blessing for the 70th anniversary of the school's establishment.
