On November 25, the achievements release conference of building China’s independent knowledge system was held in Beijing Library.
Renowned scholars and officials convened at a significant academic event held at Renmin University of China, showcasing groundbreaking research aimed at establishing an independent Chinese knowledge system and distilling the theoretical essence and practical significance of China's modernization. The event featured the release of four major academic achievements from Renmin University of China (RUC), Nankai University (NKU), Nanjing University (NJU), and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), addressing key areas such as Confucianism, social services, and finance.
Lin Shangli, President of RUC, emphasized the importance of the event as a platform for scholars to exchange ideas and insights, highlighting the selected works' theoretical and practical significance in safeguarding cultural roots, shaping national spirit, ensuring social welfare, and aiding governance. He also called for more innovative and exploratory works to contribute to the global academic community, and make philosophy and social science with Chinese characteristics stand proudly in the world.
Professor Jiang Ji from RUC presided over the event.
Among the highlighted works was "The Transfer of Mandate: The Formation and Practice of the 'Great Unity' in the Qing Dynasty" by Professor Yang Nianqun from RUC, which explores the concept of "Great Unity" in Chinese history and its relevance to contemporary China.
Professor Gan Chunsong from NKU presented "The Modern Transformation of Confucianism," discussing the challenges and evolution of Confucianism in the face of Western influences.
Professor Lin Minggang from NJU introduced "Towards a Social Service State: Global Perspectives and Chinese Reforms," addressing the theoretical construction of a social service country in the context of China's historical conditions.
Lastly, Researcher Ma Jun from CASS presented the "70 Years of PRC's Finance Series," a comprehensive record of the financial development of People’s Republic of China and its role in governance modernization.
The event included discussions with the presenters and commentators, as well as interactions with the audience. Certificates were awarded to the presenters by Lin Shangli. Prior to the conference, the Jingyun DaGu (Beijing Rhyme Drum) performance by outstanding young artists set the cultural tone for the academic proceedings. RUC has previously held quarterly and annual result releases, and launched the "Digital Innovation Platform for Chinese Characteristic Philosophy and Social Sciences Independent Knowledge System—Academic World," garnering significant attention and media coverage.
