About the speaker:

Marco V. Balarezo Lizarzauru took up his position as Peru’s Ambassador to the People's Republic of China (PRC) on March 15, 2023. Previously, he was the Ambassador of Peru to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay since March 15, 2021, when he left the position of Director General of Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. He also served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to Panama, Malaysia, and Cambodia (2011-2016), Vice Minister of Defense (2010)，Director General of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2009), Deputy Regional Representative for the Americas of the World Tourism Organization (2006-2008)，Director General of the World Trade Organization and International Economic Negotiations (2005), positions of Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations based in New York (200-2005), Counselor (Commercial) at the Embassy of Peru in Chile and Consul General in Santiago (1993-1997), as well as Secretary at the Embassy of Peru in the United States of America (1985-1991).
