On January 8th, Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China(RUC), met with Marco V. Balarezo Lizarzauru, Ambassador of Peru to China.

Lin Shangli said that RUC has always paid attention to the future of mankind with a global perspective. China and Peru are both ancient civilizations with a long history of friendship. He hopes that the two sides will further cooperate in personnel exchanges, academic research and other aspects to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations and contribute to deepening bilateral relations.

Balarezo said that China and Peru have a long history of exchanges, and he looks forward to the two sides deepening cooperation, strengthening communication and exchanges between young scholars of the two countries, promoting the development of higher education in the two countries, and enhancing the development of bilateral relations.

Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, Wang Wen, Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Zhang Damiao, Deputy Director of the International Office, Francisco Garcia, First Secretary and Head of Economic Section of the Embassy of Peru in China, and Denny Pina, Head of Political Affairs, attended the meeting.

Later, Balarezo delivered a speech entitled "From Chancay to Shanghai: Peru-China Diplomatic Relations and Cooperation & Assets of APEC Peru 2024". Nearly 100 people, including teachers and students from RUC, Beijing Foreign Studies University, China Foreign Affairs University and other universities, as well as representatives from government agencies and enterprises, attended the forum.
